An Overview
Cape Cable has been providing cable laying services in Western Australia for the past ten years. We have gained extensive experience in underground electrical cable laying for projects ranging from residential to rural.
Cape Cable provide cable laying services as a preferred contractor to Western Power and to private developers and major contractors. We have completed numerous major projects including the retrofit of underground power in Margaret River, Donnybrook and Nannup town sites complete with locating and avoiding all major existing services in the street alignment.
Two recently completed projects are for Wagerup co generation facility comprising 4.5 km of underground cabling in undulating rock country. We are currently engaged in the construction of 7.5 km at Iluka resources.
We have extensive experience in providing our services in high density built up areas working around existing services including high & medium pressure gas mains, sewer mains, water services, optic fibre and Telstra cables. We also have an extensive network of suppliers and are able to provide very competitive purchase prices for electrical cable if required.
Services We Provide
Three phase network excavating, backfill, cable laying, installing transformers, culverts, earthing grid and jointing. Spuds and spurs network excavations, backfill, cable laying, installing spurs transformers. High and low voltage jointing under Option A in new estate subdivisions if Western Power workload is too great.
Pole to pillar for new house connections. Storage inspection and handling of cable drums on site. Boundary pegs and survey marks identification and location. Cable alignment. Excavation depths maximum to minimum. Installation of ring-main units, transformers, culverts, and earth grids as well as interpreting and understanding the dimensions of different sites. Testing of cables using 5000 volt megger for high voltage and 1000 volt megger for low voltage.
Earth resistance testing. Installation of cables using rollers, corner rollers and using computerised limit tension winch for pulling tension in cable runs. Spacing between cables due to magnetic induction. Mechanical protection when cables are out of alignment. Installation of conduit due to retaining walls. Installation of 6.5, 10.5, 12.5 single and double outreach street light poles. Installation of clean fill bedding under and over cables. Installation of danger tape and vinidex.
Installation of road crossings conduits and proper sizes that are needed for cable sizes. Installation of conduit slippers to protect cables. Traffic Management Plans developed and implemented by qualified staff for all jobs requiring traffic management. Installation of copper rods for mini and uni pillars and the correct position where they will finally be situated. Acquisition of access permits required from Western Power before work proceeds around existing live cables, transformers, pillars and substations.
Western Power Quality Assurance and inspection schedules. Reinstatement of trench lines in built up areas. Location of existing services through “Dial before you dig” and through the use of “Metrotech” etc. Excavation near and above 'live' power, water, sewer, stormwater, gas and Telstra services.
